Google CalendarAlmost two years ago posts were made in forums all over the web that the long awaited arrival of Google Tasks was “imminant”. Still to this day nothing has arrived from Google. There are plenty of third party plugin’s to enable tasks in both Google Calendar and Gmail but im still waiting (along with a few million others) for Google to add tasks to their calendar.
Does anyone know if there is any progess on this?

Google Chrome Released Today

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Google ChromeA new open source web browser hits cyber space today. Web giants Google are embarking on a new adventure in to the web browser market with Google Chrome. Already filled with Internet Explorer and another open source browser Firefox, Google Chrome has a lot of competition.

The browser released today is only in beta and is only available for Windows users. Apparently a Mac and Linux version are to follow soon.

One of the key features of this web browser is the ability to use the address bar as a search box meaning you should never have to type a full web address.

One of the key issues to tackle when finishing a web site is how your site looks in different browsers. Hopefully chrome will be W3C friendly.

Internet Explorer 8 Dubbed “Porn Browser”

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Internet Explorer 8Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 might still be only in beta but some people are already refering to it as the new “porn browser”. IE8 has a stelth feature which allows you to browse the net anonomously without collecting your personal data, both on the net and your own machine.

Microsoft, rather innocently, say that the feature could be used to book a suprise trip or buying a gift for a loved one without being found out.

It will take something special to convert the large army of Firefox users around the web. Let us know what browser you use and if you use IE8.

Kompozer Kalamity

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Kompozer - html editorKompozer is a free open source html editor which can be used on PC, MAC and Linux. It is based on Nvu, a buggy editor with similar features. Kompozer is supposed to be a bug fix release, but as I found the bugs are clear and present.

Coding your page using the source tab and then previewing it is the biggest headache. When you return to the source tab either your latest changes have not been saved or your code has been formatted in a totally different way.

I was given the task of making a simple text only holding page (two minute job) so I thought it would be a good opportunity to give Kompozer a whirl. The changes just were not being regconised, and the code reformatting was just a needless headache.

It really is a massive shame as Kompozer could be an awesome piece of software. There are a dozen or so extensions floating around the net which add all forms of functionability. I will be keeping my eye on the progress of this software tp snap it up when it becomes usable. Do you use Kompozer? Let me know what you think.
